I Read Words Other People Write

UF, UF, UF. PNR, HR, Sci-Fi, finding a bit more YA that I enjoy. Mystery, crime, detective shit. Have recently figured out I'm not really a contemporary romance gal. I like smut but am not really into erotica. Oh, did I mention UF?

Dreams of Gods & Monsters

Dreams of Gods & Monsters - Laini Taylor Let's just say I'm glad this one wasn't on my kindle. I would have highlighted the whole damn thing. *cries*

Anna Dressed in Blood

Anna Dressed in Blood - Kendare Blake Buddy read with Annette! review to follow

Cinder

Cinder - Marissa Meyer Gah! I knew it! I KNEW IT!!!!!! I knew exactly where we were going! But you know what was so much fun? I didn't know how we would get there!!!

Love!

Psycho

Psycho - Robert Bloch Creeeeeeepy. Creeps upon creeps in this short book. I loved it, can see why others don't. Ed Gein (is that his name?), is who this is loosely based on. Nasty mo-fo, to be sure. Nevertheless, this was written in the 60s I think? Some differences in language, culture, daily life might hinder the modern reader. Still, I loved it! creeeeeeeeeeeepy!

The Museum of Extraordinary Things

The Museum of Extraordinary Things - Alice Hoffman magical, beautiful, mystical, heart-wrenching, gorgeous and ugly all at the same time.

Brimstone and Marmalade: A Tor.Com Original

Brimstone and Marmalade: A Tor.Com Original - Aaron Corwin fun! free!

Snowballin': I Fucked Frosty

Snowballin': I Fucked Frosty - Auralie Vierge I pretty much highlighted the entire thing. As awesomely awful as you think it will be.

Love, in English

Love, in English - Karina Halle I'm on the fence about this one, about all of Karina Halle's books actually. Not a huge contemporary fan but I did like her Sins and Needles series.
*waits for reviews to roll in*

Into the Still Blue

Into the Still Blue - Veronica Rossi Not nearly as good as the first two. Safe, pat, tied up with a ribbon ending.

Hipster Slave Boy

Hipster Slave Boy - Nate Tanner weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. this was too much fun. and horrible. definitely horrible. quinoa!

I, Lucifer

I, Lucifer - Glen Duncan Can't get in to this right now and it's due back at the library so on the 'paused' shelf it goes. I'll pick it up again later.

By Blood We Live

By Blood We Live - Glen Duncan FUCK that was a good book. WHY does that have to be the last??? Rip me to shreds then rebuild me better, faster and stronger. PRIMAL!

Unveiled

Unveiled - Courtney Milan I liked it, I scoffed at it, I loved a bit of it, I rolled my eyes. This book gave me whiplash. ALL of that TO-DO and PISH-TOSH then to finally roll it all up like a scroll in a pretty ribbon in the last 3% or so? I cluck my tongue disapprovingly. Also got a bit of a headache.

I'll post some notes if I feel like revisiting. In short, character wishy-washiness; plot holes abound; general WTF unbelievability (come on, more than a regular ol' historical romance? you know I ain't lyin'). Then some incredible swoon-worthy lines and some great, completely strong heroine actions/words. Otherwise, it's not the best HR, it's not the worst, but I can't really recommend.

Changeless

Changeless (The Parasol Protectorate) - Gail Carriger No! You can't end like that! Gah!

Your House Is on Fire, Your Children All Gone: A Novel

Your House Is on Fire, Your Children All Gone: A Novel - Stefan Kiesbye short, horrifying in it's quietness. depressing, bleak. 4 stars!

Keeping It Close: A Short Story

Keeping It Close: A Short Story - Stacia Kane It was short. It was Chess and Terrible and the Church and cepts and sex. It was Downside. Not enough, but hey, what can you do.
