UF, UF, UF. PNR, HR, Sci-Fi, finding a bit more YA that I enjoy. Mystery, crime, detective shit. Have recently figured out I'm not really a contemporary romance gal. I like smut but am not really into erotica. Oh, did I mention UF?
I wish I could toss this book to the wind, to be forgotten. One day, I'd find it again through mysterious means, and read it as if I had never read it before. I wish I could forget this book so I can experience again for the first time.
This book took a familiar plot and made it fresh and startling. A young child who never quite fits in with family, friends, environment. Always feeling there is something more, something else, something better meant to be done. If you've read any UF or YA you've read this plot a million times over. Well, Laini Taylor does it fantastically well.
It's dreamy, it's hyper-real, it was so visual! It's hollowing and sad and maddeningly frustrating. I'm lonely now that I've finished this book. The second installment is waiting for me on the shelves of my now closed library. I'll rush over there tomorrow after work and hope that my new wish is still there!
